Paint- It started Innocently...

So it started with an innocent idea...fingerpainting

The kids had extra paint on their hands so asked for more paper

Lots of blue paint

The they asked to do splat(fly swatter)painting.

After a few splats the pie tins were to tempting and they asked to do some foot painting

More Foot painting

That's whe things got a little crazy I should have known when they started to take off their clothes they were up no good

But did I expect log rolls in paint?

Or full body paint...no, but it was an interesting twist
And they had so much fun!!!!!
And they are washable and so was the paint so it was an easy clean up

Bathtime what a Ball!

We have a ton of ball pit balls and I was actually thinking of getting rid of them because the kids had lost interest and then I thought bathtub.
The kids were thrilled and there were actually screams of excitement as they discovered what there bath held. We will definitely be doing this again and maybe adding them to the water table.

Rainy Day Weaving

I didn't capture it in the pictures but what was really cool about this project is that Mikey and Kaia worked together passing the pipe cleaners back and forth throguh the material to make a cooperative design

Materials Needed:
Onion or Potato Sack
Box or thick cardboard sheet
Duct tape or staples
Scissors
Materials for weaving we used pipe cleaners, but yarn, embroidery floss etc would work great

Directions:
1. Cut the sack in half so you have to sides
2. cut a hole in the middle of your cardboard so that you can use it as a frame for your weaving
3. Attach the sack material to the box with staples or duct tape (we used duct tape)
4. Start weaving we used pipe cleaners but use whatever material you have on hand

Rainy Day Art

Making a button collage on sticky clear contact paper
Choosing the right buttons for the project- I save all my buttons I have bags and bags of them. Ithink I might do a button sensory table later. Although I know it will be so messy.
Tissue paper resist contact paper collage.

1. We made a construction paper frame and put it on a piece of clear contact paper.
2. We decided what we wanted to use as our resist Kaia decided she wanted her name while Mikey wanted a puppy.
3. The kids put their resist on and then added tissue paper pieces in whatever colors they wanted.
4.. Add a contact paper backing to seal it all in and enjoy a beautiful pic that looks great in a window.

A Jellyfish Forest

Our Jellyfish forest
We used an egg carton, neon acrylic paint and then topped it with glow in the dark paint
Added iridescent Easter grass for tentacles and some glitter and voila a Jellyfish Forest
We hung them over the kids water bead sensory table with a black light, mirror sheet (its actually mirror paper) and let the kids explore
Creating our jelly fish
gluing tentacles
adding glitter
more glitter
glow int he dark paint
And our original paint coat.

Okay so normally I do not do project based art. But this project had a purpose. We went to the Aquarium where they had a fantastic exhibit where you could pet Moon Jelly Fish. That's right tough the jelly fish I did not know there were any jellies that were safe for touch. Anyway Mikey and Kaia loved it. We kept going back where they kept touching the Jellies. Mikey especially was enthralled. He has been asking for jellyfish ever since he wanted them in the Ocean water table but I have been unable to find any (toy jellies). So we decided to make some and that is why we now have a moon jelly forest.
